Before You Go…

Your weekly yoga sessions are great but it’s about time to mix it up. Plus, with beach season in the not so distant future you’re swearing off meat cause Netflix told you so.

So toss on your workout gear, pack a bag for a beach picnic (think towels and an umbrella for Stop #3), and head to the coast to get those legs burnin’ and kickstart your vegan life.

Stop #1 — 11:00 AM

Work it Out

on the gnarliest hill in town

What to Know

Pre-plam: This is not the easiest of workouts. If you sweat a lot bring an extra t-shirt and lots of water. Also, having a swimsuit for a beach dip will cool you down later.

Highly suggested that you park at the top of the hill on 32nd or 31st St. This will allow you to exit to Stop #2 much easier, and also freak you out when you first see the dune.

The history of the dune is surprisingly fascinating. It’s been a contentious battle between the city and local residents who, in the 1950’s put in nearly 5,000 hours sculpting the sand without city permission. The lucky break came in 1960 when a committee authorized the building of an official park.

Stop #2 — 12:00 PM

Pick up Vegan Bites

from a local joint full of love

What to Know

This plant based joint is the love child of an incredible international couple Mymy and Marty, who will most likely have their baby with them.

If it’s not too busy ask them how they met and ended up here. It’s a reverse Eat, Pray, Love situation.

Order:
•PB&H Bagel
•Cali Green Smoothie
•Tempeh Sandwich.

Stop #3 — 12:30 PM

Picnic and Relax

on a calm stretch of beach

33rd St. Manhattan Beach

What to Know

Pre-plan: Grab your packed bag with beach gear before walking to M&Love Cafe. The parking is always tough and you can stretch those legs on the walk.

Heading down 33rd St. you’ll see stairs leading you out to your final destination. If you would not like to get sandy there is a bench to the left of the stairs to hang and picnic on.

If you’re coming from far away check the weather to see if there is a marine layer on the coast in order to dress appropriately.
