Before You Go…
To the non-Californian eye Los Angeles may seem like one endless vacation, and for some…it is. For the vast majority it’s business as usual until we can throw off those work close and hit the town, the beach, or happy equivalent. This date was born out of the people who created each stop’s love for adventure, desire to share their experiences, and ability to create a space that exudes their passion.
So grab your travelling partner and head out to the beach. It’s about time you sink into an adventure which you may never come back from, at least in spirit.
Stop #1 — 6 PM
Happy Hour
at the oldest bar in Santa Monica
What to Know
Opened in 1934 The Galley is officially the oldest restaurant and bar in Santa Monica. If you think it couldn’t get any more nautical it’s original location was actually on the pier.
Happy hour is Monday – Saturday from 5-7pm. The rundown: $9 cocktails, $7 wines, and $5 beers. For future reference every food item is also discounted.
Technically happy hour deals are only reserved for patrons sitting at the bar. If there aren’t any spots order a drink and post up on the bench to the left of the bar. It’s actually kinda romantic.
Stop #2 — 7 PM
Culinary Adventure
with the coolest crew in town
What to Know
The concept for this restaurant was born out of a vacation by a group of friends, now restauranteurs on an Australian surfing and eating tour. They strive to bring that vibe to your meal every time you take a seat.
Reservations are highly suggested. If you have 4 in your party request the bar seating that faces the wood burning oven.
There isn’t an official wine or mezcal pairing on the menu. However, if you’re sitting at the bar it’s worth asking the bartender for it.
What to order: Benton’s ham mignonette, garganelli pasta, and the *roasted octopus.
*do not not order this.
Stop #3 — 9:30 PM
Dance Party
in a rocking basement
What to Know
The entrance can be a little tricky and is in the back of The Victorian. Walk around the parking lot til you see a roped off line. Thats the entrance.
Arriving at the sweet spot (30 minutes before it gets too busy), you’ll have the perfect amount of time to grab a drink before the band gets under way at 9:45pm. After this time it’s possible for a 50 person line to build up.
Live music and shows are most days starting at “9:30pm”. If you see the Black Stripes on the schedule make this date happen.
