Before the Date…

Sunset walks on the beach always brings the calm ocean wind to rest on your gaze at the crescendo of colors. A moment in time that causes the world to pause and reflect on the days madness…a hard moment to top. Unless that is you add happy hour on the sand, one of the best chicken joints in the city, and a free concert to the mix.

So grab your favorite rocking crew this Wednesday cause it’s time for a Twilight Tango.

HAPPY HOUR

toast on the coast

What to Know

There are two ways to enter. One through the front lobby and down the stairs to the right. Or you can walk down to the end of Pico Blvd. to the beach and walk in from the strand.

Happy Hour is Sunday to Friday 4-6pm with $10 apps, $9 cocktails, $8 wines and $7 beers.

There’s a special night here most days of the week but Wednesday is “ceviche on the coast”. If you’re feeling a snack its $16-20 ranging on your fish choice with a self serve style bar.

BYOB DINNER

AT A LEGENDERY CARIBBEAN JERK JOINT

What to Know

This location is BYOB and Star Liquor is a block away. Have one of your crew head there while you wait in line to order.

The menu can be tough to choose but most things are good. When in doubt just go for the ½ cha cha chicken, medium spicy with plantains and dirty rice. Other hits, the salmon and coconut chicken.

If you have a larger group or plan on drinking wine make sure to grab plastic cups from home, or from the liquor store. Cha Cha does not supply cups.

St0p #3: 8:30 PM

FREE CONCERT

FROM THE TWILIGHT CONCERT SERIES

What to Know

There’s actually 3 stages going on in this event. The main stage, then a far into the ocean stage with music and another one with acts and comedy shows. Wandering around never hurts.

They’ve got the pier set up for fun so check out the flag section for some cool pics, find a photo booth at the vendors and see the Box Water tent for some necessary hydration while your rocking out.

Did you know, the old timey cartoon character Popeye was fashioned after a sailer named Olaf Olsen who ran a fleet of fish boats during the great depression right off this pier? He fought against net fishing in the Santa Monica Bay and donated a percentage of his catch to underserved families during the depression. Random.

It’s fantastic to catch this date during the Summer Concert Series but there’s 10 other months in the year. If the concerts aren’t on head to the pier to play some games, tourist it up, and ride the ferris wheel like the good ol times.
